Challenge & Solution
The challenge was to combine gentle, low-friction handling with a solution that excludes hydraulics. Specific customer requirements included smooth forks and a fully electric system. Paper rolls are highly sensitive to pressure and friction, placing high demands on both design and material selection.
Angled forks and electric drive
Hagaberg developed a tailor-made two-axis Pin-type attachment, adapted for an AGV truck. To minimize friction and reduce the risk of damage, angled forks were designed and fitted with polished stainless steel plates to achieve an ultra-smooth surface.
The attachment is controlled by a mechanical system using a worm gear and ball screws powered by an electric motor. This enables precise and reliable fork positioning while meeting the requirement for a completely hydraulic-free solution.
Additional scope
During the project, we were also commissioned to manufacture and assemble the truck chassis according to the customer’s drawings.
